SunnyBrook Home Care Comes Full Circle

SunnyBrook Home Care has come full circle. Betty Howell was the very first owner, having started the business in 2001 while caring for residents in her Fairfield home. She knew that there was a need to provide home health care for local residents thus allowing them to remain in their own homes. Originally intended to serve the residents of Jefferson County, the business expanded to nine Iowa counties in just three short years, and in 2005, Harley and Mary Carter purchased SunnyBrook Home Care.

More than 150 local home health providers throughout the entire state have joined the IAHC in support of their actions.

Fairfield's Harley Carter is a member of the Iowa Alliance in Home Care board and he has asked another Fairfield resident, Jordan Bishop, to help tell home health's story to a statewide audience.

Carter is coordinating the organization's "Ask Me about Home Care" community awareness program to educate state legislators about home care and head off potential Medicaid cutbacks.
